Editorial Policy

How we create, review, and maintain the health content you read on BodyPlain.

At BodyPlain, we take the accuracy and trustworthiness of our health content seriously. This page explains our editorial process, how we select sources, and what you can expect from every article we publish.

Our Content Creation Process

Every article on BodyPlain begins with thorough research. Our editorial team consults peer-reviewed medical journals, official public health guidelines from organizations like the WHO and CDC, and established clinical references from institutions such as Mayo Clinic and Harvard Health.

All content is written and edited by our health content team, then undergoes a rigorous fact-checking process before publication. We verify every factual claim against primary sources, validate all citations, and ensure the language is clear and accessible for general readers. No article is published until it meets our standards for accuracy, completeness, and readability.

Source Selection and Citation

We prioritize sources from authoritative public health institutions, peer-reviewed journals, and established medical organizations. When we cite research, we link directly to the original source whenever possible, allowing you to verify the information yourself.

Our trusted sources include:

  • World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Mayo Clinic
  • Cleveland Clinic
  • Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
  • Peer-reviewed medical journals indexed in PubMed

Medical Review

Our Medical Review Team consists of healthcare professionals who review articles for clinical accuracy, appropriate context, and responsible health communication. Articles marked as "Medically reviewed" have been evaluated by qualified reviewers.

You'll find the reviewer attribution at the bottom of each article, along with the original publication date and any subsequent update dates.

Updates and Corrections

Health information evolves as new research emerges. We regularly review our published content and update articles when new evidence, guidelines, or clinical recommendations become available.

When we make substantive changes to an article, we update the "Last Updated" date shown at the top of the page. If you believe you've found an error in any of our content, please contact us and we'll investigate promptly.

Editorial Independence

Our content is created independently of any commercial interests. We do not accept payment for favorable coverage of products or services, and our editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers or sponsors.

When we mention specific products or brands, it is solely in the context of providing helpful information to readers, not as paid endorsements.

Our Commitment

We believe that access to accurate, understandable health information is essential for informed decision-making. Our goal is to translate complex medical concepts into clear, practical guidance—without sacrificing accuracy or nuance.
